Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday addressed his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and once again backed digital payments saying it can help check black money and graft.
Calling upon the youth to become part of the “anti-corruption cleanliness drive”, Prime Minister Modi said that 10 lakh people have been rewarded while over 50,000 traders have won prizes in the last two month post-demonetisation. He also said that an amount of over Rs 150 crore has been earned as prize money by people who have promoted and carried forward the digital payment campaign.
Prime Minister Modi also congratulated the Indian cricket team for winning the Blind T20 World Cup besides congratulating the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for launching a record number of satellites into space.
He also made a reference to the ’Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ programme and said that it is not just a government programme but has become a campaign of societal empathy and public education.
