Can’t take tutions, private classes, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tells college teachers

May 1 (NL Web Desk): Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Monday warned college teachers to desist from taking private tutions and also not to associate themselves with private coaching institutes claiming a new set of do’s and don’ts for college teachers will soon be out in the form of a government notification in a week’s time.
In an interaction with college principals in Guwahati, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced that around 220 posts lying vacant in various colleges in Assam will soon be filled up besides launching a recruitment drive to fill 120 third and fourth grade vacant posts in colleges. Education Minister Sarma claimed college principals can’t be a part of the interview board in case their wards or relatives are among the candidates applying for the said posts.
He also asked college authorities to ensure cultural functions end before 7pm besides warning colleges not to allow private institutions to hold functions inside government colleges.
