Assam Government to rename Guwahati roads, GS Road to become Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva Path

May 4 (NL Web Desk): The Assam Government Thursday announced it will rename a number of key roads and important thoroughfares of Guwahati, key among them being the Guwahati-Shillong Road or more commonly known as the GS Road that will now be renamed Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva Path.
Other key roads the Goverment intends to rename in the name of iconic personalities are the Assam Trunk (AT) Road that will be renamed Damodardev Path, Hatigaon Road that will be renamed Haridev Path, Kahilipara Road as the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Path, Sijubari Road as Chowlung Sui-kha-pha Path, the Hengerabari-VIP Road as Khagen Mahanta Path, Beltola-Khanapara Road as Peer Azan Fakir Path while the road connecting Six Mile and Narengi would be named Madhavdev Path.
On the other hand, the Assam government will name the rotary at Guwahati Club in the memory of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah.
