May 19 (NL Web Desk): A team of Dibrugarh Police probing the cash-for-jobs APSC scam raided the commission office Thursday night and seized 990 answer scripts said to be of 165 APSC-passed candidates who are currently under the scanner of the investigators.
The 990 answer scripts, seized from the APSC strong room, were produced in court and were later sent to the forensic science laboratory for tests.
“Around 1080 answer scripts of candidates who passed the APSC mains in 2014 are under scanner following allegations that many of them may could have cleared the examinations after bribing Rakesh Paul and other arrested commission members,” special public prosecutor Bijon Mahajan said.
“The answer scripts that we seized yesterday night have been sent to the forensic science lab. We are awaiting results of the tests so that we can carry forward the investigations,” Dibrugarh Addl. SP Surjit Singh Panesar said.
Sources, meanwhile, said there are indications that a number of former ministers, MPs and MLAs and other known political faces could come under the probe ambit as the investigation process gathers more steam.
