Silapathar vandalism & violence case: Main accused Subodh Biswas remanded to 14-day judicial custody again

May 22 (NL Web Desk): Subodh Biswas, the main accused in the March 6 Silapathar violence and vandalism incident, was remanded to judicial custody yet again after he was produced at the Dhemaji CJM Court today. Biswas, president of little-known linguistic minority body named Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Samannay Samiti (NBBUSS), is accused of inciting hatred and making inflammatory speeches.
He is also accused of inciting a mob that attacked the AASU office in Silapathar town in Dhemaji district on March 6 this year.
Subodh was arrested along with another co-accused named Subhash Biswas from a village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
Assam Police have so far arrested over 50 people in connection with the violence and vandalism incident.
