PM Narendra Modi lays foundation stone of Changsari AIIMS, Agricultural Research Institute

May 26 (NL Web Desk): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday laid the foundation stone of the proposed unit of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) to be constructed at Changsari in Assam’s Kamrup district. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone by pressing a remote at the Sarusajai Sports complex in Guwahati.
Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance, Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, among others, attended the foundation laying function of the AIIMS unit.
The AIIMS unit will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,123 crore under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana’. Construction work of the super-speciality hospital is expected to be completed in the next four years.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district during his whirlwind day-long tour to Assam during which he dedicated the 9.15-km-long Dhola-Sadiya bridge to the nation which, he announced, will be named after Dr Bhupen Hazarika and will be known as the Bhupen Hazarika Setu.
Later in the evening, Prime Minister Modi addressed the nation from Khanapara in Guwahati to mark the completion of three years of his government and the completion of the first year of the BJP-led government in Assam and announced his government will continue to work for the welfare of the people in the years to come.
