Dibrugarh Police question 25 ACS-APS officers, specimen signatures to be sent for further forensic tests

June 9 (NL Web Desk): Dibrugarh Police Friday questioned 25 ACS-APS officers summoned to appear before it at the Special Branch headquarters of Assam Police in Kahilipara, Guwahati, in connection with the cash-for-jobs scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) during the tenure of Rakesh Paul, now under judicial custody after his arrest on November 4 in connection with financial anomalies and allegations of favouritism in recruitment of candidates.
The officials who appeared before investigating Dibrugarh Police officers today had cleared the Assam civil services in 2014 (advertisement published in 2013). They were appointed a year later in 2015.
Among the officials who appeared before the investigating team include Rajarshi Sen Deka, son of former Assam Agrigulture Minister Nilamoni Sen Deka, along with others who are known to have had close relations with Rakesh Paul.
Besides being questioned in connection with the scam, investigating officers also collected sample signatures of the officials that would now be sent to the forensic science laboratory in Hyderabad.
Sources said that officials whose signatures mismatch may lose their jobs besides police beginning criminal procedures.
