Abducted 3-year-old daughter of Assam University professor found at Khliehriat, Meghalaya

June 10 (NL Web Desk): In a major success for Assam Police, the three-year-old daughter of a faculty member of Assam University, Silchar, who was allegedly abducted by their domestic help from the university campus six days ago, was recovered at Khliehriat in Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya today.
The abductors released three-year-old Shubhomita Roy Choudhury at the Meghalaya town of Khliehriat following intense pressure from police teams who had fanned out to various places in Assam and Meghalaya in search of the minor girl. The little girl was spotted near the local branch of ICICI Bank by people who informed the local police.
“The abductors released the little girl at Khliehriat in Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, near a barber shop outside the local ICICI bank branch around. Police teams were informed by local people after she started crying,” ADGP (Law & Order) Mukesh Agarwalla who was overvieweing the entire police operation told News Live.
“A team of Silchar Police is on its way to Khliehriat along with parents of the little girl to bring her back to Silchar,” Cachar SP Rakesh Roushan said.
Shubhomita, also known as Trisha among family and friends, is the daughter of Subhadeep Roy Choudhury, assistant professor of Life Science at Assam University, and Shatabhisha, a medical officer. The minor girl was abducted from the university campus in Silchar, allegedly by their house maid Neha Bagti.
Police teams are now on the lookout of the domestic help employed by the Roy Choudhury family who is believed to have masterminded the entire abduction.
