Class II boy electrocuted after coming into contact with snapped cable near Jagiroad, telecom tower operator dies at Nagaon

GUWAHATI, July 7 (NL Web Desk): Close on the heels of the two electrocution deaths in Guwahati during the recent flash floods, two more people, including a minor student, were electrocuted in two separate incidents in Assam Friday.
Bidyut Das, a Class II student of Bihita LP School near Jagiroad in Assam’s Morigaon district, was electrocuted after he came into contact with an electricity transmitting cable that had snapped and was lying near his school.
The minor boy was on his way to school this morning when he came into contact with the snapped cable and died on the spot.
“It’s very callous on the part of power department officials to have allowed this to happen. The cable snapped but officials did not consider it important to cut off electricity connection. We demand adequate compensation for the family of the dead child,” a local villager said.
In the second incident, a telecom tower operator died at Laokhowa in Nagaon while he was working with the generator set of a tower. Montu Bora was an operator of the Reliance group and died after coming in contact with the generator.
