Railway minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu flagged off the 15624/15623 Kamakhya - Bhagat Ki Kothi (near Jodhpur in Rajasthan) weekly express train by remote from New Delhi on Friday.
With the launching of this new train service, N F Railway officials said a long-standing demand of the people of Assam and neighbouring states for a direct train service to Jodhpur was fulfilled.
Prabhu said the new train will help people from North India travel easily to the famous Kamakhya temple. He added it will reinforce connectivity of Northeast to the rest of India.
The 15624 Dn Kamakhya - Bhagat Ki Kothi Express will leave Kamakhya on every Friday at 5.15 pm to reach Bhagat Ki Kothi at 10 pm on Sunday, while the 15623 Up Bhagat Ki Kothi - Kamakhya Express will leave Bhagat Ki Kothi every Tuesday at 3.25 pm to arrive at Kamakhya at 10.55 pm of Thursday.
The major stoppages of the train include Rangiya, New Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar in Assam, New Coochbehar and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, Kishanganj, Katihar, Barauni and Patna in Bihar, Mughalsarai, Varanasi, Lucknow and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Junction and Delhi Cantonment, Rewari and Loharu in Haryana, Churu, Ratangarh , Merta Road Junction. and Jodhpur in Rajasthan during its journey.
