The distraught parents of 26-year-old Kuldip Moran, who was kidnapped by Ulfa (I) rebels from Arunachal Pradesh on August 1, have appealed to the outfit to free their son after a clip showing him pleading for help surfaced on Monday.
A pall of gloom has descended on Kuldip’s home at Kakopathar in Tinsukia district. During the day, friends, relatives and representatives of various organizations visited the victim’s home to console the distressed family.
Earlier, Ulfa (I) had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore for his release. Moran was told to approach his close acquaintance and Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia for arranging the money when he expressed his inability to pay the amount.
On the other hand, a number of organizations, including Asom Moran Sabha, All Assam Moran Students’ Union, Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad, Moran Sahitya Sabha, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad and Muttuck Yuva Chatra Sanmilan, on Monday sought Kuldip’s unconditional release.
