Assam Government to fill up teacher vacancies, 13,000 TET pass-outs to be absorbed

GUWAHATI, Aug 29: The Assam government will fill up vacant posts of teachers and will absorb nearly 13,000 TET pass-outs within the end of this year. While 11,278 teachers --- 5,144 Middle English and 6,134 LP school teachers --- will be absorbed by the Assam Education department in permanent posts, another 1,500 to 2,000 vacancies will be filled up by the BTC administration. This was announced by Assam Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on Monday.

The Assam Education minister said the department will float an advertisement into this effect on Aug 31 while the appointment process is likely to be completed by the end of this year.

On the other hand, reacting to the Congress party’s accusations that the BJP has failed to deliver on the promises made prior to the elections, the Assam Finance, Health and Education minister said the present government has done more work in the first couple of months than what the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government managed in 2-3 years.

He also supported the move to appoint Priyanka Chopra as brand ambassador of the Tourism Department’s Awesome Assam campaign but said that a final decision is yet to be taken.
