DIBRUGARH, Aug 31: In a shocking incident a female student of Dibrugarh University was abducted by six persons, forced into a TATA SUMO at knife-point and then physically assaulted before throwing her out of the vehicle at Chowkidinghee.

The incident took place early Tuesday morning after the girl, hailing from Nagaon district, landed at Kumarisiga Tiniali from a night bus around 4:30am. While she was proceeding towards the private hostel where she stayed, the six youths came in a TATA SUMO, gagged her and forced her into the vehicle. She was assaulted by the youths inside the moving vehicle, robbed her of her belongings and ornaments before throwing her out of the car at Chowkidinghee Chariali.

The victim had lodged a police complaint at Milan Nagar Police Station after Tuesday morning after which the case was transferred to Barbaruah Police Station.

Acting swiftly, Dibrugarh Police arrested two accused while four are still at large. The two arrested abductors have been identified as Jun Ali and Imran Ali.

Incidentally, the vehicle inside which the student was abducted had two registration number plates --- AS 23H 6454 in the back and AS 23L 5760 at front.

On the other hand, various organizations and the local people staged a demonstration outside Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station demanding immediate measures to arrest the absconding abductors besides demanding stringent punishment for the abductors.
