Now, demonetised Rs 500 & 1,000 currencies ‘drained away’

GUWAHATI, Jan 11 (NL Web Desk): In another incident of recovery of demonetised currencies, Rs 500 and 1,000 notes, reportedly amounting to many lakh rupees, were found floating at a drain in Nalbari town. The notes were recovered by pedestrians in the morning that led to a hue and cry among the people.

The demonetised currencies were found floating in the drain running alongside the busy Palla Road in the heart of Nalbari town. Incidentally, the notes were torn and it is not immediately known whether the notes were genuine currencies or were they counterfeit notes that were dumped into the drain.

Nalbari Police have launched an investigation following the recovery of the demonetised notes.

Incidentally, torn demonetised currencies were recovered in Guwahati on multiple occasions while there were other incidents of recovery of torn notes at Jagiroad a couple of days ago.
